Thomas close to a commitment?

One LSU quarterback, Jamarcus Russell, is in New York, one day away from the NFL Draft and what might be the biggest of his life. But Les Miles and company are in the thick of recruiting for their 2008 signing class, and have their eyes focused on a potential Tiger quarterback of the future in Aldine (TX) quarterback Darron Thomas.

Thomas, an athletic signal caller who possesses size (6-foot-4, 195 pounds) and speed (4.52/40 yd. Dash), has been keeping in close contact with the LSU coaching staff, and is expecting two separate visits from coaches in the next week or so. On Friday LSU offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Gary Crowton is expected to make a visit, and next week head coach Les Miles and Bradley Dale Peveto, who is recruiting Thomas, are planning to stop by Aldine High School.

"I'm very serious about LSU," Thomas said.
