Florida safety commits to Wisconsin

LAUDERDALE LAKES, Fla. - The Wisconsin Badgers and assistant coach Dave Doeren are no strangers to mining South Florida for talent, and the Badgers have picked up their first prospect from the Sunshine State for the Class of 2008 in Lauderdale Lakes (Fla.) Boyd Anderson safety Kevin Claxton.

"I committed to Wisconsin today," Claxton said. "It just felt like it was the right fit for me."

The 6-foot-2, 192-pounder said he chose the Badgers over offers from Auburn and Ole Miss. He becomes Wisconsin's third commitment in the 2008 class.

The Badgers signed three prospects from the state of Florida in the 2007 class. Royal Palm Beach (Fla.) running back Zacchaeus Brown, Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) William T. Dwyer defensive tackle Jasper Grimes and Immokalee (Fla.) cornerback Aaron Henry each signed with the Badgers in 2007. Coach Doeren was also the recruiter of record for all three of those prospects.
