Cook not satisfied with solid freshman campaign
Growing up in South Florida, Emanuel Cook yearned to play college football at Miami.
But when the Hurricanes showed little interest in the 5-foot-10 Cook despite a stellar high school career, he looked elsewhere and eventually signed with USC.
Based on his performance as a freshman defensive back, head coach Steve Spurrier and secondary coach Ron Cooper are certainly glad he decided to make the long journey to Columbia.
Cook emerged last season as one of the hardest hitters in a young secondary, finishing third with 47 tackles, five for loss, in 10 games. He's the only player among the top 13 tacklers that appeared in less than 12 games.
Had Cook played in all 13 games, he would likely have had over 60 tackles, enough for second place behind middle linebacker Jasper Brinkley.
