Four-star linebacker visits Iowa City

Four-star linebacker Will Compton was in Iowa City on Wednesday to tour the Iowa Hawkeye football program. The 6-foot-2, 214-pound Compton, who hails from Bonne Terre, Missouri, had a chance to meet with the coaches, tour the facilities, and get a closer look at the academics at the University of Iowa.

The four-star prospect, who Rivals.com ranks among the top 250 players in the nation, also brought his younger brother along, as Cody Compton is a possible wrestling recruit in the Class of 2009. The Comptons met with Tom Brands and the wrestling coaches in addition to Kirk Ferentz and company.

As a junior, Compton racked up 71 tackles, including 13 for a loss, playing both safety and linebacker on defense. The four-star prospect, who also had 455 yards rushing and 855 yards receiving, currently has scholarship offers from Iowa, Missouri, Nebraska, Illinois, Kansas, Kansas State, Northwestern, and Wake Forest, among others.
