25 Tigers to watch: #23 Pig Brown
The Missouri Tigers open camp on August 4th, which is now just 25 days away. Over the next 25 days, PowerMizzou.com is counting down the 25 players on the roster who will be most influential in determining just how good the Tigers are this season. To be clear, this is not a list of the 25 best players on the roster. It is not a list of the players that will have the biggest seasons or put up the best numbers. In reverse order, we are counting down the 25 players who we think could have the most influence on the outcome of the 12 games on Missouri's 2007 schedule.
23. Pig Brown
Why he's on the list: Most will probably be surprised he is not higher on the list. As we said, it's not a reflection of the best players. The safety spot simply seems fairly secure at this point, while there are a few question marks at other positions, particularly on the defensive side of the football.
However, Brown will definitely be a player that the Tigers need to come up big this year. The last two seasons, Mizzou entered the year with a safety who was regarded as a darkhorse for Big 12 player of the year honors. In the opinions of most observers, both Jason Simpson and David Overstreet were better as juniors than as seniors.
The fact that the Tiger defense was not as good as perhaps expected may have been a direct correlation in both cases. Missouri cannot afford a similar dropoff from Brown. Pig started last season very, very impressively, but dropped off a little during conference play and suffered a shoulder injury against Nebraska.
