SEC Kickoff 2007: Day 1

Maybe the three-game season-ending losing streak was a sign of things to come for Arkansas football.

Sporting a 10-1 record and having hopes of advancing to the BCS title game, the Razorbacks lost to LSU in the regular-season finale and to Florida in the Southeastern Conference title game. Then, Arkansas lost to Wisconsin in the Capital One Bowl.

But, the offseason was much worse for Hogs coach Houston Nutt. Parents of freshmen players complained to Arkansas Athletics Director Frank Broyles about Nutt. Two highly-acclaimed freshmen - Mitch Mustain and Damian Williams - left.

Then, offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, an Arkansas high school football coaching legend, departed. Next, Nutt's cell phone calls became a matter of public record. Then, Houston's brother Danny had to resign from the staff because of health issues.

"This was really a totally different offseason, something I've never experienced before in 26 years of coaching," said Nutt at Kickoff 2007 on Wednesday.
