Full pads for the first time
STILLWATER - Oklahoma State donned full pads for the first time this fall, which is just one more sign that the season opener against Georgia is around the corner.
Mike Gundy and his Cowboys practiced for almost three hours Monday evening, as a solid throng of orange-clad fans watch the third-to-last open session before things close down in preparation of the game against the Bulldogs.
And while this wasn't the practice, the fact that players were in full pads sure ramped up the entertainment in drills. Overall, Gundy said the team gave a good effort on the day. But of the two sides, one clearly stood out.
"A good day for the defense," Gundy said. "A nice practice (for them). The offense got a little tired and made a lot of mistakes at the end and put the ball on the ground a couple of times and made some mental errors. The defense, I thought, held up and made some plays late."
The team went through many of the same drills they have since practice started last week, but it ended with a two-minute drill scenario, once which pitted Bobby Reid and the offense deep in their own territory and down 31-24 with 1:47 to go.
