Buffs' offensive line more than doubles in size
BOULDER, Colo. - During spring ball, the Buffaloes had just six healthy offensive linemen at their disposal.
On Monday, CU's first day of preseason camp, offensive line coach Jeff Grimes had 17 players to work with. Only junior Erick Faatagi, who is taking a double load during summer school, was absent.
"It puts you in position where you can really practice now," Grimes explained. "It will make our whole team better because we have the opportunity to get multiple lines going during practice. And the competition will make our offensive line better, everybody will be better because they have to compete to get up there and play."
The Buffs return three starters on the offensive line from last year's team in Edwin Harrison, Tyler Polumbus and Daniel Sanders. Sophomore Devin Head is the only other offensive lineman on the roster with any game experience at the college level.
"I just know that we have good kids here who want to work hard and get better so I am going to coach them as hard as I can everyday," Grimes added. "I think they want to win. I think they want to be great. I think they want to be tough up front."
