Notebook: Slaughter in; McCain works at RT

It took a year of prep school and months of waiting, but it was worth it for Chris Slaughter.

The four-star WR finally set foot on the Plains Tuesday, his first day as an Auburn Tiger.

Slaughter, who signed with Auburn in February 2006, but failed to qualify and had to go to Hargrave Military Academy, practiced in shorts and a helmet during the morning session of the Tigers' first two-a-day practices.

Slaughter went through a few drills early in practice, and then spent the better part of the remaining time shadowing a few of the veteran receivers.
