Celestine adjusting to life in Boulder
BOULDER, Colo. - Kendrick Celestine was the last player to report to preseason camp. The freshman wide receiver was having trouble getting a flight out to Boulder from his hometown of Mamou, Louisiana.
Mamou, population of 3,500, is known as "The Cajun Music Capital of the World".
"You haven't lived until you've been to Mamou, Louisiana," joked head coach Dan Hawkins back on signing day. "When they give you directions they tell you to turn left at the big barn. I'm a small town guy and I think it's awesome. Some of our coaches are from the city and they need big ole' exit signs. But I love all that."
Has Celestine had to battle any homesickness?
"No sir, not at all," he expressed. "You don't have time to get homesick during camp because it's football, football, football. It's like nothing I've experienced before. At my high school we never even had two-a-days. You have to be mentally tough to get through camp and that is the main thing I am really working on."
