Christian Ramirez talks about switch
UCLA knew they were getting a very athletic player in Christian Ramirez and it his athleticism is helping the Bruin cause as he changed positions during the last week in camp. Ramirez is taking a cram course in running back 101 by professor Dino Babers.
Ramirez is obviously a fast learner because he has been pretty impressive during his brief stint.
Ramirez was impressive handling questions from the media and never lost patience though some members came and went during the meeting at different times creating some redundancies in the questioning.
The young man handled himself with style and class.
Were you surprised when they talked to you? When they came to you about the switch?
Ramirez: "Coach Karl Dorrell came to me sometime during the spring or during the summer, I can't remember, but he told me 'we might need back there so I don't want it to be a surprise when we call you over' and I just said alright coach.
What are your feelings about moving to offense?
Ramirez: "I'm just doing whatever I can to try and help the team. So if I can go over there and play there then that's what I'm going to do.
You came here originally as an "athlete". Didn't you start your career at UCLA as a running back?
Ramirez: "Yes, sir, I started here as a running back and went over as a safety because that's where we were low in numbers so I switched over and now we have low numbers on the offensive side so I have to come back.
