Breaking it down

OK, now it's down to a matter of days. And it's time to take a look at what you might see from the 2007 Eagles, the first BC team wearing the stamp of Jeff Jagodzinski:


Matt Ryan is the preseason player of the year in the ACC. We love Matt Ryan. We think he will have an outstanding senior season and position himself for the NFL draft. We also think he has the head not to get affected by all that's being said about him. Is he a Heisman candidate? No - and anyone who thinks he is not thinking clearly. The BC sports info office is getting inquiries on what should be done to push Ryan for the award, but this is a longshot to end all longshots. The only PUSH can come from an outstanding start to the season by an outstanding kid. The rest will take care of itself.

The kid can play. He's smart. He's talented, talented enough to play in the NFL. He's a leader. He will lead the offense. He will win.

But there are questions as you start the season.

There's a new blocking scheme (there have been two line coaches and Jags has his hands all over this because this is his baby) and the line was being juggled right up until the other day. The line starts a true freshman.
