Tiger duo provides strong safety net

Pig Brown had a point to prove.

"I think we did a good job of that this first game," Brown said.

And the point?

"Letting everybody know that safety is not going to be the weak link of our defense this year."

Point proven. Not only was safety not the weak link, it was the difference maker for the Tiger defense in the season-opening 40-34 win over Illinois. Brown had three takeaways--two fumble recoveries and a game-clinching interception--to spark the Tigers and thwart an Illini comeback.
