Tuesday Insider: Carrolls team up with RoJo

Coaches have been working Ronald Johnson's hand-eye coordination, as a way to get inside his head.

The true freshman wide receiver has played a lot of catch this week - having an extended post-practice session with Pete Carroll on Monday and another with tight ends coach Brennan Carroll on Tuesday.

"It was just some time to communicate, make sure I'm having a good time," said Johnson, who also threw with Pete Carroll during Tuesday's practice, as he waited his turn to catch balls from the quarterbacks during positional drills.

The 6-foot-1, media-hyped speedster out of Muskegon, Mich., has caught only one pass for four yards during USC's first two games. He said the early jitters are behind him, and the biggest surprise about the college game has been, "I never thought I'd get open like that," he said.
