Holmes highlights win

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star offensive guard Khaled Holmes may have had the game of his career last Thursday.

Against Corona Centennial, ranked No. 2 in Southern California at the time, Holmes helped the Monarchs establish a rushing attack that gained 258-yards on the Huskies. While Holmes enjoyed the Monarchs' 51-37 victory, he remained shocked at USC's loss to Stanford.

"SC was in a pretty tough situation with players going down with injuries," said Holmes. "They had linemen and a running back go down the week before.

"That's never an excuse for losing, so maybe they did look passed Stanford. You can't do that at any level, but I'm definitely not in a position to critique collegiate athletics."
