NU Notes: Burkes may have redshirt pulled this weekend

With the recent injuries on the offensive line for Nebraska, head coach Bill Callahan said on Tuesday that he may be forced to pull freshman tackle Jaivorio Burkes out of his redshirt.

Callahan announced on Tuesday that junior starting tackle Lydon Murtha is out for the entire season with a foot injury, and senior center Brett Byford remains questionable for Saturday due to a knee injury he suffered in the Texas A&M game.

With Murtha out, Callahan said junior Matt Slauson will start at right tackle in his place, but Burkes will also be in a position where he should see time on Saturday.

"He's going to have to move up," Callahan said. "He'll most likely or probably will see some playing time. Slauson has played that position and with the situation of Brett Byford not being clear, there's a lot of juggling of positions where Hickman would go to center, and we'd moved Mike Huff to left guard.
