Monday morning quarterback: Miami

The red-hot Wolfpack won their third straight game, a 19-16 victory at Miami on the Hurricane's homecoming last Saturday. The win improved State's record to 4-5 overall and 2-3 in the conference heading into a big showdown with rival North Carolina on Saturday. Now it's time for some Monday Morning Quarterbacking.

Key moment of the game:

The key moment of this game was a pair of defensive stops to start the fourth quarter. NC State senior kicker Steven Hauschka connected on a 31-yard field goal to cut Miami's lead to 13-10 with 14:17 left in the game. His ensuing kickoff went for a touchback.

On Miami's first possession of the fourth quarter they went three and out after gaining just three yards on a first down run by sophomore fullback Jerrell Mabry and getting two incomplete passes from junior quarterback Kirby Freeman. The result was a punt from freshman Matt Bosher that netted 41 yards. State took over at its own 36 and drove the field for game-tying 35-yard field goal from Hauschka with 9:52 left.

The Canes took the field at its own 20 following another touchback for its second fourth quarter possession. They gained a first down and advanced to the 34-yard line before facing a third and seven. Then Freeman threw his third pick of the game, this time to junior Jeremy Gray at the Miami 40-yard line. NC State needed only 10 yards to set up Hauschka's go-ahead 47-yard field goal.
