Duke must make up ground for Loftley
The Duke football team has had a successful recruiting season to this point, and with just three scholarships left to give, the Blue Devils are making sure they are targeting the best available players that will serve their needs.
One need is at linebacker, and though Chamblee (Ga.) High two-star prospect Taylor Loftley is labeled as a defensive end, he could very well fill a hole at linebacker for Duke. After offering the 6-foot-2, 247-pound senior recruit a scholarship several months ago, the Blue Devils jumped right into the mix of things. Unfortunately, with the newfound interest and offer from South Carolina and a strong push by Vanderbilt, Duke finds Loftley beginning to slip out of reach.
"My top two are still Vanderbilt and South Carolina," Loftley said. "Duke is still in there, but they are not at the top with the other two right now. I definitely have a lot of interest in [Duke] and they are coming at me pretty hard, but I think they are a little behind South Carolina and Vanderbilt."
