Greentree turns into slip 'n slide for players

Call it the Greentree Slip 'n Slide.

Heavy rain made the practice field a lake today. But the team practiced anyway.

"It was fun during practice," quarterback Kyle Wright said. "It was pouring rain. It was offense vs. defense. Guys were sliding around, but we definitely had fun."

After practice players lined up and took turns making a big splash. They'd get a running start, plop down face first and slide 10-20 yards on the wet field.

Some players who didn't want to get the full body soaking got it anyway. Among players dragged into the large puddles by teammates were Kirby Freeman and Jermaine McKenzie.

"I was trying to get Kirby to do it with me, but he said he didn't want to catch a cold," Wright said. "When you say those kind of things you have to get dumped.

"It was all in good fun. We got our work in. Coach (Randy) Shannon wouldn't let us act like this (after practice) if we didn't get our work in."

Shannon was glad to see his team having fun.
