Fresno State ends Wildcats' season
FRESNO, Calif. -- And so it ends. Kansas State traveled to Fresno State on Saturday for its final regular season game and carrying hopes of winning one more game and gaining bowl eligibility.
The Wildcats only won the first quarter.
Fresno State quarterback Tom Brandstater passed for a career-high 313 yards and two touchdowns to Marlon Moore, and Fresno State knocked K-State from bowl contention with 45-29 win Saturday.
K-State jumped out to a 14-3 lead and then led 14-10 at the end of the first quarter, but soon after the day started to unravel for the Wildcats (5-7). Fresno State scored 21 points in the second quarter to open up a 31-21 halftime lead, and then tacked on 14 more in the third quarter to build a 45-21 advantage.
"First of all, this is a very good team we played against, been playing together a long time," K-State coach Ron Prince said. "I kept waiting for us to respond but we didn't. We thought we had momentum at the end of the half, but didn't do anything in the third quarter."
