Olson thrilled with Chow

The quarterback position should reap outstanding benefits from having Rick Neuheisel as head coach and Norm Chow as offensive coordinator. Maybe that is why quarterback Ben Olson could hardly contain his glee with the hiring of Chow.

Olson came to UCLA with high expectations, but because on inconsistencies on the coaching staff and injuries, he hasn't lived up to his potential.

The team of Neuheisel and Chow could be exactly what Olson needs to see his talent blossom. Olson had a teleconference yesterday to discuss Chow's arrival as UCLA's offensive coordinator.

"Basically when you have the opportunity to work with someone of Coach Chow's caliber, I don't think any player, especially an offensive player, let alone a quarterback, could be more fortunate to have a chance to work with Coach Chow," Olson said. "I am very excited. I think a lot had to happen for this whole situation play out for it all to unfold and have Coach Rick Neuheisel bring in Coach Chow, I think he's to be commended for his efforts and with what he's done.

"I'm thrilled to death to have the chance to work with Coach Chow. It is something that I've wanted for awhile now and to have that chance to finally have things work out things kind of all had to have lined up and it is a huge blessing.
