Valley lineman collects ISU offer
One of the top prospects in Iowa for the class of 2009 is West Des Moines Valley offensive tackle David Barrent. The 6-foot-7, 285-pound Barrent is off to a fast start in the recruiting process with four offers having already been extended. Barrent talked about those offers and his plan for the recruiting process earlier this week.
All four of Barrent's scholarship offers came in the month of February and not surprisingly, two of those offers are from the in-state programs.
"Illinois came earlier in February, then Iowa offered on that Monday. Iowa State was last week on Wednesday and Northwestern was just this past Saturday," Barrent said. "I've gotten interest from Minnesota, Kansas, Michigan State and Kansas State. I haven't talked at length with any of the coaching staffs, so once I do that I might be able to say something about [favorites], but not at this point."
Barrent has already attended Junior Days at both Iowa and Northwestern, but is not sure about future Junior Day or unofficial visits. He does plan to do more research on schools as the spring and summer go on so he is prepared to make his college selection.
