Patterson eager to check out Rebels

Macon (Noxubee County), Miss., four-star wide receiver Pat Patterson plans to be in Oxford on April 5 for one of the Rebels' upcoming junior days, and he's interested to see how things are with the new coaching staff.

"I've been camping up there the last couple of summers," Patterson said.

Patterson's stock appears to be on the rise in recent weeks. The 6-foot-3, 212-pounder has speed just under 4.6 seconds in the 40-yard dash, excellent hands and a penchant for being physical after the catch. Last season, Patterson caught 70 passes for 1,424 yards, one year after catching 60 passes for more than 900 yards.

Patterson has already attended [tm]Mississippi State[/tm]'s junior day and he has a scholarship offer from the Bulldogs.

"It was all right," Patterson said of his trip to Starkville. "I like the way they practice."

[tm]Ole Miss[/tm] has offered, as has [tm]Southern Mississippi[/tm]. Patterson is receiving attention from [tm]Alabama[/tm], [tm]LSU[/tm] and [tm]Michigan[/tm] as well. Of those three, the Tigers intrigue him.

"They're real competitive," Patterson said.

Patterson said he's in no hurry to make a decision, adding that distance won't be a factor but academics will be. Patterson said he's interested in architecture. If the decision comes down to a battle of in-state SEC foes, the proximity to Starkville won't necessarily help the Bulldogs.

"I don't show any favoritism," Patterson said. "I like them both." note: Video from Patterson's junior season should be up soon. We have arranged for it to be sent to the network and will have that available to you as soon as possible. In addition, has learned that Ole Miss has also offered a scholarship to one of Patterson's teammates, Deontae Skinner. We're working on bringing you a profile and update on the 6-2, 230-pound defensive end in the coming days.
