Practice report: Injuries still the story

The Missouri Tigers went through another indoor spring practice thanks to the rain in Columbia. PowerMizzou.com was there and has all the notes from the tenth workout of spring ball:

First, let's get the bad news out of the way. Linebacker Van Alexander is out for the rest of the spring after tearing the ACL in his right knee on the final play of yesterday's practice. Gary Pinkel said Alexander would have surgery on Monday.

"I really feel bad for him," Pinkel said. "He's been trhough a lot, but he's a tough guy. The good news is he can be 100% by Illinois for that first game. And he will be."

Pinkel is hopeful Alexander can be ready for fall camp.

"We can't even speculate at this point," the coach said.

With Alexander down, Luke Lambert becomes the third starting linebacker.

Missouri will return to the practice field for a light workout in shells Friday afternoon at 3:30 get going full tilt again with the final scrimmage prior to the spring game on Saturday morning.
