Gardiner just ready for the season
Port Arthur (TX) Memorial cornerback Desmond Gardiner is regarded as one of the top cover corners hailing from the Lone Star state. The 5-foot-11, 175-pounder comes in ranked at No. 63 among corners in the initial Rivals.com ratings.
Gardiner, who racked up 47 tackles and 4 interceptions in '07 has offers from teams across the country. Among those who have offered the rising prospect include TCU, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas, Kansas, Baylor, Houston, Nebraska, Kansas State, Missouri and Texas A&M.
With an impressive list of offers to choose from Gardiner says he hasn't spent much time focusing on recruiting.
"I really haven't thought about it too much," he said. "I'm not focusing on recruiting right now. I'm putting my focus on my upcoming season."
Needless to say Gardner isn't tipping his hand on any favorites either.
"I don't really have any favorites, each school has a variety of good things about them."
Gardiner says the Nike camp was the only one he attended over the summer and is just ready to get his season started.
"I'm just hoping to duplicate at least what I did last year," he said. "But this season I've set my goals higher for what I did last year."
As far as a decision is concerned, Gardiner plans on letting the process play itself out.
"I'll probably take my visits when I look more through what each school has to offer and just going through the process."
