Hulce, young tailbacks make strides on Monday

MORGANTOWN--The more WVU head coach Bill Stewart sees of his new crop of tailbacks, the more he likes. "Anytime you ask guys who weren't here for spring practice to step in and contribute immediately, it's a tough road to hoe," Stewart said. "But today I was particularly impressed with Zach Hulce, and the others are coming along, too."

The others, of course, are true freshman Terence Kerns and Mark Rodgers. Those two and Hulce, a junior transfer from Glendale Community College, are expected to form a triumvirate of backup support to starter Noel Devine, who undoubtedly has the goods of a feature back (627 yards, 6 touchdowns as a freshman) but has yet to prove he has the durability.
