Offense does solid work

The offense had a pretty good showing during Wednesday's PM practice. They still have work to do, but like UCLA head coach Rick Neuheisel the effort was something to build on. Again, as has been the case, the effort has been there all camp long even now with tired legs, the beat goes on. As always Neuheisel met the press after the session.

Neuheisel: "I'm pleased again. I was pleased with the tempo of practice. We got a couple of things accomplished. We got nice first little first scrimmage for the underlings, the whippersnappers and saw some good things.

Milton Knox broke off a run that was fun to watch. So that was encouraging and to get a red zone run and see Kahlil Bell kind of carry the mail like he did that was very encouraging. I'm pleased.

"We're not where we need to be, but we're getting closer. Like all teams hopefully we can keep putting the left foot in front of the right foot and making strides in quest of being a good football team.

Are you where you should be, if not where you want to be?

Neuheisel: "Given to what happened to us, given the quarterback situation, I think yeah. I'm pleased. We would like to go out and have 10 more periods right now. They have been on their legs since last Tuesday and I think they are giving us everything so I'm pleased."

Are you pleased with the pace and the tempo of the practice?

Neuheisel: "Yeah, I do like the pace and the tempo and coming off the ball and I think we are kind of settling in. There are always these seminal moments. I'm certainly not going to call a two a day a seminal moment, but our offense is going to get to go in and watch tape tonight that they are going to be excited about.

"They are going to feel hope. They are going to feel encouragement and you can build off that. There is still going to be 8,000 things to fix and the defense will use it as a charge of the light brigade and be ready to go tomorrow, but the bottom line is, you need those moments in camp as you are starting to build a team so that everyone knows you have something to add to the pot."
