A&M has tough morning, regroups in afternoon
Texas A&M had its first off day of August camp Sunday when the team didn't practice but rather watched film and met some in the afternoon. Monday morning the Aggies hit the outdoor practice fields once again, but the day off seemed to carry over into Monday as the Aggies were sluggish throughout the morning.
The sloppiness prompted A&M head coach Mike Sherman to call the team out of drills early into a huddle, and then sent them off the field back to the locker room.
"I just thought it was real sloppy this morning," Sherman said. "I didn't see the urgency or the desire to do the things the way we need to do them, so we just kicked them off the field and told them we'd start over in the afternoon. It wasn't worth keeping them out there doing the same things poorly, so that was the thing about this morning."
After the early dismissal in the morning, the Aggies hit the outdoor practice fields again in the afternoon despite a rain storm. The rain eventually went away, but the Aggies kept working and things seemed to get better in the afternoon.
"I thought (the afternoon) was much better," Sherman said. "There is still some area for improvement. I thought their intensity was better but we still have some things to work on."
