Eagles still lead for Attaochu
Not long ago it looked as though Washington (D.C.) Archbishop Carroll junior Jeremiah Attaochu projected as a defensive back at the college level. He has continued to pack on weight, however, and now it looks like he'll be recruited as a linebacker.
Attaochu said he is now at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, and he has run the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds.
Earlier in the summer he listed Boston College as his favorite. That hasn't changed in the weeks since.
"Yeah, I'd still say Boston College is my favorite," Attaochu said. "Any school is an option right now but I like Boston College a lot.
"When I went up there they were telling me about the academics and what they do to help student-athletes. I've talked to the coaches a few times and I think I'm going to try to start talking to them more."
While BC is in a good position with the talented prospect from the Class of 2010 there figures to be plenty of competition.
Attaochu has received mail from NC State, Oregon, Stanford, Illinois, Michigan State, Buffalo and a host of others, in addition to Boston College.
He said he may take a few unofficial visits this year after his season is over but not until then. Thus far Archbishop Carroll is 1-3 on the season. Attaochu is averaged seven tackles per game and has recorded three sacks.
"The season is going well," he said. "I think I've played really good so far. I'm playing defensive end and linebacker because I've got a little bigger. Most schools will recruit me as a linebacker, but I can also get my hand in the ground and play on the line."
