ISU amazes Hargrett on official visit

Like most first-time visitors to Central Iowa, Miami (Fla.) Northwestern running back Daquan Hargrett thought he knew what to expect and was completely surprised by what he found. Hargrett, who is verbally committed to West Virginia, took an official visit to Iowa State over the weekend and found a lot more to like than he ever thought possible.

"It was really amazing," the 5-foot-9, 180-pound Hargrett said. "I never thought that Iowa could be that interesting. You think it's just open space and nothing much going on. But it's an interesting place, I was really blown away by it. The game was phenomenal, Iowa State almost got them. The facilities there are amazing."

Hargrett, the nation's no. 20 all-purpose back and the no. 79 prospect in the state of Florida, made his verbal commitment to West Virginia back in June. He said he is still a WVU commitment but the entire thought process has taken a turn for him.

"It (the ISU visit) really opened my eyes to what else is out there," said Hargrett.
