New Commitment: WR D.J. Beshears

Denton (Tex.) Ryan wide receiver and return specialist D.J. Beshears made a verbal commitment to Iowa State on Tuesday night. The 5-foot-9, 185-pound Beshears had officially visited ISU this past weekend.

"I just got off the phone with Coach Chiz and I committed, I'm a Cyclone now," Beshears said in a text message to CycloneReport.com.

CycloneReport.com was the first to exclusively report Saturday morning that Beshears was at Iowa State for an official visit this past weekend. We talked to Beshears at the ISU vs. Kansas game and we talked to him again Sunday night to find out how things went on his official visit to Cyclone Country.

"I'm pretty psyched about going there but I didn't decide yet," Beshears said Sunday. "My dad couldn't go with me and I don't want to decide without him. We're going to the Baylor game this Saturday and after he gets the chance to meet the coaches and talk to them, then I could be ready. They are also supposed to come to my game on Friday night."

As it turns out, Beshears didn't need to wait until this coming Friday or Saturday to make his final call.

Assistant coach Scott Fountain has been the lead recruiter for Beshears.
