WVU uses changing defenses to cover UCONN receivers

EAST HARTFORD, Conn.--West Virginia's three picks Saturday was a matter of defensive chicanery, according to cornerback coach Ellis Lankster.

Lankster made no interceptions, but he did have a team-high 12 tackles at Rentschler Field as West Virginia swamped Connecticut 35-13 to keep its Big East record unblemished (3-0). The 6-2 Mountaineers have won five in a row.

"Brandon Hogan and me took a step up. We kept switching around our coverages all day. Sometimes we would show Cover 2, but then slide into Cover 3. Sometimes, we'd be in Cover 3, but show 2. Sometimes we'd show Cover 4, but be in Cover 6," said Lankster.
