Strong finish for Burns
Auburn has led at halftime in eight of its nine games but four of those have turned into losses. Kodi Burns wasn't about to let that happen again this Saturday.
When UT Martin tied the game at 20-all early in the third quarter, Burns knew it was time to step up and take control of AU's floundering offense, which had managed just one offensive touchdown up to that point.
"It's the same story every week. I was just sick of seeing it and didn't want to see it again," Burns said. "I just wanted to come out and get a win so I did everything in my power to move the ball down the field and score."
Burns turned out to be nearly unstoppable the final 24 minutes of the game. He completed all seven of his final passes for 49 yards and more importantly, rushed the ball seven times for 134 yards and two touchdowns in the final quarter and a half.
"Kodi carried us tonight. He did everything," running back Ben Tate said.
Burns finished the game 12-of-20 for 130 yards and no interceptions. He rushed for 158 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.
