Banks discusses Croom's resignation
Jonathan Banks did not believe what heard yesterday when word got out that Sylvester Croom had resigned as head coach of Mississippi State.
The three-star safety prospect from Maben, Miss., found out yesterday morning from his sister in-law.
"My sister in-law told me about it," Banks said. "She told me that Coach Croom had just resigned and I really didn't believe it. I called one of my friends that is real close to Coach (Reed) Stringer and he told me that he did. That's how I found out about it."
The 6-foot-3, 180-pounder said the Croom's resignation would not effect the commitment he made back in April.
"It really doesn't effect what I am going to do at all," Banks said. "That's been kind of like my dream to play at Mississippi State. Playing at Mississippi State is something that I've always wanted to do."
Banks admitted that playing for Croom did play a role in his decision when he made the decision to come to Starkville.
