Bulldogs prepare to host Charlotte

Mississippi State head coach Rick Stansbury hopes to get a better showing from his basketball team tonight hosting Charlotte at 6 p.m.

The Bulldogs looked sluggish in a 76-67 win over Alabama State on Saturday, a game in which they were never really able to put the Hornets away until the final minutes.

"I think it's very obvious they know it wasn't their best effort," Stansbury said. "I think they understand that effort gets you beat against Charlotte."

Tonight marks the fourth time MSU has faced the 49ers. The Bulldogs hold a perfect 3-0 mark with their last meeting coming in 2006 with a 78-69 win in Starkville. State is 15-7 all-time against Atlantic 10 opponents last claiming a win over St. Bonaventure earlier this season.

The Bulldogs come into tonight's matchup at 6-2 and averaging 77.2 points per game. Mississippi State is shooting 46.5-percent from the field on the season hitting 39.6-percent from 3-point land and 67.8-percent from the free throw line. The Bulldogs are outrebounding their opposition by eight and only surrendering on average of 62.6 points.

State has also won nine straight games at Humphrey Coliseum.
