December 24, 2008's Car Care Notes: Day 2

CHARLOTTE, N.C.--Wednesday night (Christmas Eve), head coach Bill Stewart and safety Quinton Andrews were to go "mano y mano"--in a good way--in the team's second rendition of the "Gong Show" this season.

The real "Gong Show" aired on NBC in the late 1970's and its reincarnation currently runs on "The Comedy Channel." It presented a contest between amateur performers of often dubious talent, with a panel of three celebrity judges. If any one of the judges considered an act to be particularly bad, he or she could strike a large gong, thus forcing the performer to stop. Most of the performers took the gong with sheepish good grace, but there were exceptions.

Tuesday, Stewart said several Mountaineers wanted to get back at Dorrell Jalloh and Pat McAfee, a pair of judges who apparently were the harshest critics in the rendition, but a junior, particularly, wants a piece of the playful coach.

"They said, 'Coach how about another shot at Pat McAfee and Dorrell Jalloh'?
