TCU an option for Peace?

Each year, there are players who commit to a school but for one reason and maybe more than one, those players get a change of heart. One player who recently chose to re-open his recruitment is South Grand Prairie, Texas receiver Dewayne Peace.

Peace, who committed to Michigan in June, decided to de-commit from Wolverines last week because of their desire for him to switch positions. Although the Wolverine staff recruited Peace as a receiver and had mentioned corner, they decided they wanted to ultimately recruit him as a corner. That is the primary reason Peace decided to open up his recruitment with less than a month to go until signing day.

The 6-foot, 177-pounder was named all-district in 2008 picking up where he left off in the summer when he won numerous most valuable receiver awards at camps including the Nike Camp held in Ft. Worth at TCU. It's no wonder why several teams are still interested in bringing Peace into the fold.

"I have offers from Colorado State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Arizona that I'm positive," he said. "Kansas State, Cal and Minnesota are showing interest. There's a lot more but I can't think of them right now. A lot of them have said they are going into meetings and said they would let me know by the middle of the week if they have offers for me."

A few schools have also been by South Grand Prairie to inquire about Peace.

"I talked to TCU, Oklahoma State, and Kansas State and Utah," Peace said.

Coach Fuente was the TCU coach that spoke with Peace, and according to the talented receiver the coach made a good impression.

"He's a nice, cool person," Peace said of Fuente. "He was telling me that TCU wasn't a bad place and he was just a nice person."

Peace said he does have an interest in the Frogs based on their 2008 success(#7 in AP and coaches) and they are just a short drive from home.

"They had a good year this year," he said. "Plus, it's not a bad place to play and it's right down the street so people will be able to come see me play. I don't know a lot about them, that's why I would want to go visit them."

With a little less than a month to go until signing day, Peace has a couple of visits lined up in the coming weeks.

"Right now I have a visit set up on the 16th to Arizona and the 23rd to Oklahoma State."

Although February 4th is National Signing Day, some recruits delay their decision beyond signing day. While Peace is basically starting from scratch, he feels he will have a decision made before signing day.

"I don't think it will come down to that," Peace said about delaying his decision. "I don't know with TCU but I think I have one more official visit I can go on before signing day. I should have my decision made by then."

Wherever Peace lands, the lucky school is getting perhaps the most underrated receiver in the nation.
