Could Mississippi State still sign Patterson?
With signing day only weeks away, former Mississippi State commitment Patrick Patterson has become a hot commodity for college coaches.
The No. 4 ranked wide receiver is being recruited hard and heavy by the likes of Alabama, Ole Miss, Southern Miss, Tennessee and Auburn. But does Patterson still have the Bulldogs in the mix for his signature?
"I'm looking at them," Patterson said. "I don't have a visit there but I am still looking at them."
When the 6-foot-3, 215-pounder from Macon, Miss., decommitted from the Bulldogs back in September he told BulldogBlitz that he wanted to play in a spread offense where they threw the ball around. When MSU brought in former Florida offensive coordinator Dan Mullen and his spread offensive attack, Patterson took notice.
"I think that their offense is going to be good," Patterson said. "I think that it the kind of offense I'll believe I'll able to fit in."
Patterson has had the opportunity to meet with Mullen since his hire but he emphatically said "no" when asked if the Bulldogs are recruiting him as hard as they were back when he was still a commitment.
The four-star receiver returned from a visit from Alabama this past weekend and will head down to Hattiesburg on Friday to visit the Southern Miss campus. Patterson's final two visits will come on Jan. 23 to Ole Miss and conclude on Jan. 30 to Tennessee.
