LSU Preview

Mississippi State will have not only have the opportunity tonight to avenge their largest loss of the season but they will also have a chance to reclaim a share of first place in the Southeastern Conference Western Division.

The Bulldogs enter tonight's showdown with LSU one game back of the Tigers for the best record in the league with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m. at Humphrey Coliseum.

LSU claimed an 81-57 victory in Baton Rouge on Jan. 21 to move into a first place tie with the Bulldogs and have been in control of the division ever since. The Tigers hold a 102-92 lead in the series but has won only twice in the last nine years in Starkville.

MSU comes into tonight with a 6-2 record in the SEC and a 16-7 record overall. The Bulldogs are averaging 74 points per game and shooting 45.5-percent for the year. They are second in the league in 3-point percentage at 38.7-percent and make 70-percent from the free throw line. State is averaging a league-best 8.3 blocks per game and allows only 65.6 points to their opponents.
