TCU the latest to offer Evans

Cornerback Ciante Evans is the next D-1 prospect ready to emerge from the halls of Arlington (TX) Seguin high school. The 6-foot, 170-pounder has seen his recruitment pick up in recent weeks and now has five offers on the table.

Evans, who earned first-team district honors in his first year as a starter, has written offers from the likes of Kansas, Texas A&M, Houston, Colorado State and most recently TCU. The talented corner is also getting heavy interest from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and several others.

"I got offers from TCU, Kansas, A&M, U of H, and Colorado State," he said. "I'm also hearing a lot from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Wisconsin, and Kentucky, that's about the most right now."

TCU was the latest school to offer Evans, giving him a written offer last Sunday while he was on campus. Evans came away impressed with what he saw from the Frogs.

"They offered me Sunday," he said. "They had offered me but Sunday they gave me the letter. It was a nice visit, I liked it. I liked how they gave me a tour and I visited the academic hall. They showed me everything.

"I talked with Coach Patterson, he seems like a nice coach. He really wants me to come over there and play. They want me as a corner."

Seguin sits just a few miles from TCU, however Evans may be looking to venture a little bit further down the road.

"I kind of want to go off," he said. "Just to see what it's like to be independent and on my own."

Evans says TCU made an impression on him during his visit, but isn't ready to list any favorites just yet.

"I'm open to everyone," he said.

In 2008, Evans recorded 4 interceptions.
