Coker up to four offers

After rushing for 1,174 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, running back Marcus Coker is receiving plenty of college interest.

In recent weeks, the 6-foot-1, 227-pound Coker, who attends DeMatha Catholic High School in Maryland, has picked up new scholarship offers from Iowa, Kansas State, and Wake Forest.

The three schools join Maryland, who was the first to offer back in February. While most of the early recruiting talk has focused on running back, Coker also has the size to play linebacker in college as well.

Along with the four schools that have offered, Coker is also receiving interest from Boston College, Syracuse, Michigan, Pittsburgh, and several others. He said he hopes to hear more from Georgia and Penn State, which are two schools that he followed growing up.

While it is still early in the recruiting process, Coker has already started thinking about what he is looking for in his future school. Distance from home is not a major factor, he said, which may give programs like Iowa and Kansas State a chance.
