Joeckel planning early enrollment
Things are a little different this spring for Arlington High quarterback Matt Joeckel and his teammates. Even though Arlington has made three trips to the playoffs in the past six years, last year qualified as their most successful season by far. The Colts finished 8-5 and extended their season into the third round of the playoffs, which was their deepest playoff run in years.
Joeckel himself had a lot to do the program's success by completing 198 of 344 passes for 2,922 yards and 29 touchdowns. Not only that, Joeckel spread the wealth around with five receivers recording at least 25 catches a piece and four of them scoring four or more touchdowns.
Now, there's an increased set of expectations for the Colts in comparison to past years. Arlington returns 15 starters from that team and nine of them, including Joeckel and his brother Luke, will be three-year starters. Arlington should anticipate to be ranked among the Metroplex's best teams in the preseason and expectations are already high on the team itself.
