Brennan heading to Big Ten

Cherry Hill (N.J.) Camden Catholic quarterback and three-star prospect Joseph Brennan made a verbal commitment over the weekend, ending the recruiting process.

The 6-foot-4, 178-pound pocket passer from the Garden State committed to a school that he has been interested in for quite some time. He just felt the time was right to go public with his decision and gave the coaches the good news.

"I just committed to Wisconsin," Brennan told Rivals.com in a phone interview on Monday afternoon. "I gave them a call on the phone with my mom sitting in the living room with me. I just told them that out of all the schools recruiting me I got the best feeling there. I feel that's where I can best reach my potential."

Brennan is the Badgers' eighth commitment from the Class of 2010 and the first quarterback to jump on board. Wisconsin signed one quarterback in each class from 2005-2009.

Apparently the coaches were a big factor in Brennan's decision.

"All the coaches there seem to have good character," he explained. "They're really trying to build their program. They're doing a good job of coaching the guys on their team. The practices are very organized and they're doing things the right way."

Brennan said his decision ultimately came down to Miami, Stanford and Rutgers, in addition to Wisconsin.

"This is it," Brennan said, ruling out visits to other schools. "I'm committed to them."

He said the coaches were excited when he gave them the news, as they had told him he was the number one quarterback on their board. Brennan feels he will be an excellent fit in the offense when he arrives a year from now.

"I talked a lot with coach (Paul) Chryst and I feel like I'm the guy they're missing. I think I can help put them over the top. I can definitely see myself getting in there and running their offense. I talked with him about what he does, how he teaches quarterbacks progressions and all that. It all made a lot of sense."
