Porter already into A&M-Texas rivalry
AUSTIN, Texas - Former Schertz Clemens and current Texas A&M freshman linebacker Sean Porter didn't know what to expect when he headed to Austin for a week of practice before playing in the THSCA All-Star game Tuesday at Darrel K. Royal Texas-Memorial Stadium. When he got there, however, Porter found himself playing in defensive end in a five-man front.
Porter showcased his speed, especially on special teams as he narrowly missed blocking two punts and in chasing down receivers in the passing game, but he was admittedly off kilter from a position he had a week to get used to.
"What you saw me playing here isn't what I'm going to playing at A&M," Porter said. "They've got me at the Sam linebacker."
Despite the change of position, which also did see Porter jump up off the line in coverage as more of an outside linebacker, Porter felt that he was pushed over the week by the Katy High School coaching staff.
