Robinson learning the ropes

One of the earliest commitments from the class of 2009 was Chandler, Arizona linebacker Rueben Robinson, who upon visiting Oregon State during spring camp of his junior year was offered by Coach Riley and he then decided that he wanted to carry on the rich linebacker tradition and play for Coach Newhouse and the Beavers.

Nearly a year and a half later, Robinson is suited up wearing number 13 for Newhouse and the Beavers. While he values every spare minute of sleep he can squeeze in, he is thrilled with his decision to play for Oregon State and has been enjoying his first week of fall camp.

With limited depth at linebacker this fall, Robinson is seriously being looked at for possible early playing time. A possibility that excites him and has him trying to soak in every nuance of the Beavers system.

"Coach Newhouse has been great," Robinson said. "He covers every little detail of the game and its funny because we always talk about how in the meeting room he goes over every single scenario so that when we are out on the field we are prepared for what the offense is doing."
