D 'tough, resilient, fast' says Stew

MORGANTOWN--Head coach Bill Stewart praised his team's second-half performance in Saturday's 35-20 victory against East Carolina. During Sunday's media teleconference, Stew harped on the attributes that held the Pirates to 85 yards and no points in the final quarters.

"We're sound; we're tough; we're resilient, but we're fast," said Stewart. "When you go against this defense and our guys, you better have your T's crossed and I's dotted, because they're going to get you."

The Mountaineers sacked the Pirates four times and obviously wore on their C-USA foe. ECU mustered just 58 yards in the third period, then just 27 in the last frame. Only five first downs were allowed in the second half, in part to the consistent pressure from the linebackers.
