Watson getting his chance

Louis Watson spent all of last year honing his skills and preparing for this season.

Now the redshirt freshman appears to be in position to earn his first career this week taking over at left cornerback against the triple-option attack of Georgia Tech.

"I was backing up Damein Anderson at corner but Coach Melvin Smith put me with the one's this week," Watson said. "We'll see what happens. From what I've seen from last year we have to play alignment and assignment to the max. everybody has to know their job and has to do their job close to perfect. The triple option is always hard to stop. I think if we all do our job and have good eyes we will be fine."

Watson has played in all four games this season mainly on special teams for the Bulldogs. He has made three tackles (one solo, two assists). Watson starts as the contain man on the kickoff team and is a backup on the kick return team, punt block team and field goal unit.

"I'm playing on a lot of special teams so it feels good to get my feet wet," Watson said. "I'm glad Coach Mullen saw my ability to play on special teams so I'm happy to get out there."

The 5-foot-10, 180-pounder also feels his redshirt year last season and gave him the confidence for life in the Southeastern Conference.
