Okay, so what happened?...

A year ago, UCLA and Stanford played on UCLA's home field, the Rose Bowl, and the Bruins, who ultimately went only 4-8 on the season, converted a late drive to defeat the Cardinal. This year, on Stanford's home field, the Bruins' last late drive fizzled and the Cardinal won the game.

Two teams, two rising programs, not all that far apart in terms of talent and ability, two different results. Significantly, Stanford dominated the majority of both games, indicating perhaps that the Cardinal are a bit ahead of the Bruins in the rebuilding effort. Equally significantly, each time the home team won the game.
