Free Saturday morning practice report

The Tigers were back on the practice field for their second workout in 24 hours. PowerMizzou.com has a full report from the latest Texas Bowl practice..

*Rolandis Woodland missed his second straight day dealing with personal matters.

*In Woodland's absence, perhaps no player became more noticeable than sophomore Michael Egnew. The tight end turned receiver made a number of catches both in red-zone drills and 7-on-7.

*Of course, there were the usual Danario Alexander highlights. Alexander caught a beautiful over the shoulder rainbow on a corner pattern from Blaine Gabbert for about 35 yards.

*Alexander also spent red-zone drills abusing the scout team secondary, scoring on at least two plays. An apparent third touchdown was disputed by Tavon Bolden, who told Alexander, "Out at the one. You're gonna score anyway, but still..." At least the kid's realistic.

*I continue to marvel at the progression of Grant Ressel. He went 2-for-2 from 51 yards, then moved back to 55 and hit from there as well. Perhaps even more encouraging, backup Trey Barrow hit from 55 with some distance to spare.

As one observer noted, "Pinkel must have sold his soul for this run of kickers."

Play of the Day: Early on in 7-on-7, Gabbert fired a ball deep down the left sideline. Munir Prince had impressive coverage, but Egnew simply went up and over him to catch the ball over Prince's head. Such is the advantage of a 6-foot-5 receiver who can jump.

Bonus Play of the Day: Alexander, Sean Weatherspoon and Jaron Baston are among a handful of players set to graduate today. Alexander and Spoon were excused from practice early for their ceremonies. Both finished their courses in three-and-a-half years.

The Tigers have a closed walk through on Sunday and then return to practice at 10:15 on Monday morning. PowerMizzou.com will have coverage.
