Which 2009 BCS teams will return in 2010?

At the College Football Roundtable, we ask members of the coverage staff for their opinions about a topic in the sport. This weekend we have two roundtables -- one Saturday and one today:

TODAY'S QUESTION: Which teams that played in a BCS bowl last season will be in a BCS bowl this season?

Olin Buchanan's answer:
In my opinion, at least eight of the 10 teams that were in BCS bowls last year have realistic chances to returning. Alabama is my pick to win the SEC and Ohio State is my choice in the Big Ten, so obviously I anticipate both those teams making it. Boise State will have a great shot, too. I'd look for Florida and Texas to be back in BCS games, probably as at-large picks. I believe Iowa, TCU and Oregon have good chances, too.

Tom Dienhart's answer:
I think six of the 10 will return. I expect Alabama to again play in the BCS title game. Florida again should receive an at-large BCS bid after winning the SEC East. I also like Iowa and Ohio State to return to the BCS spotlight. The Buckeyes look poised to perhaps play for the national championship. Even without Jeremiah Masoli, I think Oregon will be back in a BCS bowl. And Boise State is set to make a third trip to the BCS. And the Broncos possibly could play for the national championship.

David Fox's answer:
Since the BCS field expanded to 10 teams, either four or five teams have returned the following year. I'm probably not going out on a limb by saying the five teams most likely to return to the BCS are Alabama, Texas, Florida, Ohio State and Boise State. The Buckeyes have been in the BCS for five consecutive seasons, and that streak should continue. The Crimson Tide and the Gators are flawed, but I don't know who will be a major threat to either in the SEC races. Garrett Gilbert showed me enough in the BCS title game to make me a believer in Texas returning to the BCS without Colt McCoy. Boise State's chances hinge on the opener against Virginia Tech and a later game against Oregon State. The Broncos are good enough to win both.

Mike Huguenin's answer:
I think three of the 10 basically are locks to return: Alabama, Florida and Ohio State. I also think Boise State, Iowa, Oregon and Texas have good shots. I will say five return overall: Alabama, Boise State, Florida, Ohio State and Oregon.

Steve Megargee's answer:
I'm picking Alabama to repeat as national champion, so let's go ahead and pencil the Tide in for a BCS spot. Sugar Bowl champion Florida again looks like the second-best team in the SEC, and it's a safe bet that the SEC gets two BCS bids. I also think Rose Bowl champion Ohio State is a clear-cut favorite to win the Big Ten crown and earn another BCS bid. I'm not sure whether Texas beats out Nebraska for the Big 12 title, but I think the Longhorns will be good to earn a BCS at-large bid even if they can't catch the Huskers. I don't think any of the other BCS teams from last season repeat.
